Overcoming Dental Fear

While going to the dentist isn’t the highlight of someone’s day, there are thousands of individuals who find the experience to be stressful and anxiety-inducing. If you find yourself dreading your next visit to our office we have a collection of helpful tips and tricks to make your appointment more enjoyable!

1. Distract yourself

A surefire way to take your mind off your visit is to enjoy some screen time! The sounds of drills and other dental instruments can be unnerving for patients, making music or background noise important to controlling your stress levels. Whether it be watching tv, listening to music, or playing a game on your phone, distracting your mind can greatly reduce any built-up anxiety you might have.

2. Be Honest

Our team of professionals wants nothing more than for you to feel comfortable and taken care of during your time with us. If you find yourself growing more anxious before or during your appointment, don’t hesitate to let us know! We will talk you through every step of the process and let you know what tools we will be using and why. Our office also offers NuCalm, which is a form of anti-anxiety therapy that relaxes the body. If there are any other accommodations our team can make to ensure you feel comfortable let us know and we will be happy to help!

3. Meditate

Meditation or controlled breathing techniques can be extremely helpful when it comes to keeping yourself calm and relaxed. We suggest taking a deep breath through your nose and slowly releasing it through your mouth, which can control your anxiety and lower your heart rate.
