Cavity Treatment with Custom Dental Fillings
Tooth decay is a progressive issue that leads to an increasingly bigger cavity (hole) as it spreads through your tooth. To treat the decay, stop the cavity, and alleviate your toothache, Dr. Criss can remove the infected tooth structure and fill the hole with a biocompatible material. Dental fillings can be made from metal amalgam or tooth-colored composite resin, depending on your specific needs, and are designed to withstand your bite pressure without sustaining damage.
Dental fillings are placed as a liquid so that they conform to the cavity’s shape, and are then hardened to remain in place and reinforce the tooth. By replacing the lost tooth structure, a filling restores the tooth’s structural integrity. By filling and sealing the cavity, it also prevents oral bacteria from once again infecting the tooth.
