ORAL SEDATION
Up to 50% of the population experience anxiety that prevents them from seeking even basic dental care. However, taking simple oral medications shortly before an appointment can help make the experience more pleasant. Oral sedation can range from minimal to moderate, depending on the total dose given. A minimal dosage involves taking a pill one hour before to the procedure. You will feel drowsy but still awake. A moderate dosage is a type of anesthesia that will make you groggy enough to fall asleep but can still be awakened by a gentle shake.
